I have one very special child named Timothy. He was born in November 2009 with a rare condition called Lymphatic Malformation ("LM"). While usually not life-threatening, in Timothy's case it causes hundreds of microcysts to form in his neck and obstructs his airway. Like Timothy, many children with LM breathe through an artificial airway called a tracheostomy, and require help with eating through a feeding tube.
We named him "Timothy" because it means "Honoring God." We chose it before we knew he had LM, and we can see now how God has used his condition to draw ourselves and others toward Him and bring honor to Himself.
We are so thankful that God has chosen us to parent this special and wonderful little boy. Even though it can be amazingly difficult at times, he is a wonderful blessing to us in every way. Our prayer for him is that as he grows, his weakness will bring him to Christ and he will learn to love God in a personal way.
